Liminals

We were thrilled to collaborate with Pierre Huyghe, one of the most innovative and influential contemporary artists, on his latest project « Liminals », commissioned by LAS Art Foundation and Hartwig Art Foundation.

« Liminals » explores uncertainty through quantum-inspired experiences. The large-scale immersive installation presented at Berlin’s Halle am Berghain combines film, sound, vibrations and light.

Loops Creative Studio supervised the entire production in Unreal Engine. This project posed a significant technical challenge and led us to develop a custom workflow, both adaptive and iterative, designed to closely serve Pierre’s artistic vision.

The film relies on a combination of experimental approaches, research, high-precision motion capture by MocapLab, and work with a virtual camera, giving the artist considerable freedom to explore this virtual world. It also features extensive rigging and hyper-realistic simulation work carried out by KARLAB.

The entire process was fully orchestrated and integrated within Unreal Engine.

We are also preparing a making-of highlighting the use of Unreal Engine in this ambitious project.

Thank you to all the teams, our amazing partners Raphaël Siboni, KARLAB and MocapLab, and Pierre Huyghe Studio for the collaboration and trust.
